The Lord did... prepare their hearts to receive the word which should be taught among them
Holy Cow what a week! If I have learned anything this week it is that the Lord truly prepares people to hear the Gospel.
This week we got to meet with our miracle investigator Chi Phuong again! Since last week she has basically found out everything she could about Christianity and even got a notebook just to write down her findings! She looked up who Christ was and watched a video about Him and just alot of research. When we said we were going to be teaching about prophets she was all "wait! I know all about them! then she told us all the things that she learned!" After that we gave her the Church website so she could find things from a more accurate site than wikipedia! But seriously she is so ready to learn the Gospel.
We also made alot of people cry this week. We happened to sit down and talk with this sweet wonderful lady while contacting one day and she told us her whole life story and how her huband and daughter died 5 years ago and we were able to teach the Plan of Salvation to her. It was seriously the sweetest thing. She doesn't have time to take the lessons so we go help her peel potatoes and veggies for her restaurant where we happened to contact and a girl (who took a picture of us and the book of mormon card and the card with the website, our number, and the church address on it and put it on Facebook, which basically means we contacted about 200 people that day haha ;)) and a guy who works there who has some amazing goals in life and he came to church this Sunday! that doesn't happen alot but it did this week! for our district we had 9 potential investigators at church on Sunday!!! seriously that was a crazy crazy miracle!
Anyway back to making people cry, we also met another lady as she came running out of her house at the exact moment that we were walking by and she just like stopped and looked all embarrassed so we asked if she had time to hear a message and we taught he to pray and she cried. It a good way though. She has had alot of trials and needed some comfort that day.
And as for the last person we made cry. She lives right next to the church and we were buying Banh Bao from her cuz we didn't have time to get anything else to eat and asked her is she wanted to meet with us sometime and she said yes! so we met her and she loves her family and wants peace in life so we taught her the first lesson and that she can pray for her family and for peace and she started crying. Wow I'll be honest I'm not great when other people are emotional (I'm kinda like awkward I guess haha) but lucky my companion is really good. Haha so it's been a cool week!
Also we are teaching our new security guard. The other one moved to Longbien which I am kinda sad about cuz he was awesome! But anyway it basically started cuz he was really bored so we gave him a Book of Mormon to read and he just sits and reads all day. Then we gave him pamphlets and he loves the Word of Wisdom which is totally out of the ordinary for a Vietnamese man. And then we invited him to learn and he says he doesn't want to join the church but wants to learn more and likes what we teach. He talks soooo much though so our lesson was like over and hour and a half haha!! most of that time was trying to get him to pray. He did not want to pray. He kept side tracking like crazy and finally I'm like, okay mister it's time to pray. Maybe it was a little bold but we had places to be and so he agreed and gave a lovely prayer.
It's been crazy to see the miracles in missionary work. We study hard, we pray hard and we go out and work hard all day long. Sometimes we go contacting for a couple hours and nothing comes out of it and then someone basically shows up at our door and says "Hey what do I have to join your church?" (Yes this happened to a person the elders contacted over 2 months ago!) It almost feels like we are cheating the way that the Lord just provides people he has prepared for us.
Alma 16:16 ... the Lord did pour out his Spirit on all the face of the land to prepare the minds of the children of men, or to prepare their hearts to receive the word which should be taught among them at the time of his coming
Anyway love you all so much! Keep on Keeping on!
