Its all about the people (Gerald Causse May 2018)
K here is the saying of the week:
Gieo gió gặt bão.
It literally means sow the wind reap the storm or in other words you reap what you sow.
So basically this is a challenge for general conference this week-- you're gunna get out of it what you put in. So I invite all of you to write down 3 questions you have in your life, pray about them and then watch general conference. I know if you do this you will receive answers! I am so grateful for modern day revelation!
So its' been a crazy week and we have just been meeting so many people! Its been sooo fun! Here's what happened:
So we had an awesome lesson with Co Ngoc to find out some of her needs and just help her understand that learning comes line upon line and that not even people who have been in the church for 20 years know everything. That's why life is so long cuz there is so much to learn. But anyway we smoothed things over and she wants to keep learning and we even moved up her baptismal date to the end of this month and she's so excited she is telling everybody about it!
Also Co Duc is doing awesome! She is loving meeting with us and we had a lesson about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and she was like I feel like this is the right path and if it includes baptism I am willing to follow it. But she really also loves Buddhism and keeps asking us can I be mormon and Buddhist too? (According to Sons of Provo yes you can). But it's cool cuz we have a missionary here who has grown up in a home with buddhist culture and his experience is super awesome and I think will help her! Also funny story we also ran into her at the park when we were playing Da Cau (it's like hacky sack with a badminton birdie sorta) but she was so excited and basically drilled us in badminton so hard! It was intense. If we messed up more than 3 times she made us run laps around the park haha! I didn't know badminton was a workout ha!
Also this week we met with these 4 students who come to english class each week and taught them all together and it was so cool! I have never seen so many 16 year old kids so engaged in a conversation about the gospel! it was awesome!
Also we are teaching a ton of Catholics right now which is sooo weird but super awesome because they are all super close as families and already know who God is so instead of introducing what religion is we get to introduce our special message of the restoration! One cool experience was earlier this week we met a lady and were just talking and invited her to hear a couple of our beliefs and she was like "yeah no way I am already catholic." so we just talked about english instead haha. But then we met her sister who has 4 children and the children know us cuz every kid in our apartment knows the two tall white girls haha! and we invited her to hear a message about happy families cuz her family is huge compared to all other Vietnamese families. And she was super excited and so we went over last night and guess who was there! that lady who is actually her sister! And we had an awesome discussion and it was more of sharing together instead of teaching and was so fun and they were very open! but also very catholic but interested in prophets!
Also we have been doing lots of church tours recently which has been really fun! It's very comfortable and we have a pic announcement board with lots of pictures of Jesus and the book of mormon and baptism and stuff like that. It always gets them asking lots of questions and it's so much easier to explain. It's also really cool to show them the sacrament room cuz even though it's simple and small you can always feel the spirit there! its awesome
Also we had a couple lessons this week that were just weird. One was a cute little family who always gives us pictures of people we can pray to if we want. But we went over and the dad wasn't home which was sad but the 2 little boys were and they were just hyped and going crazy running around ripping the pamphlets screaming and needing help with potty training and one is a baby who needed to be fed and there is no privacy here and it was just crazy! but the lady was very interested so we kept teaching but I don't think she got anything out of it. But she is from the North so we also asked if we could come back and they could help us with our language so we do a book of mormon reading session with them and they learn the book of mormon and help us! so its a win win.
Also we met a guy who can tell the future I guess. We had a really good lesson with him and kinda related his dreams with how revelation sometimes works. So that was fun.
Okay sorry lots of stories about people. That's basically all we did this week though is meet people so thats all I have to talk about. but thanks for reading.
I hope you all have a wonderful week and spiritually uplifting week with general conference!
