Crazy Week!!

Image
So accidentally broke the word of wisdom this week. If you want to know why then please keep reading This week was crazy. I know I have said that before but I don't think I knew what crazy was before. We met with so many people and its awesome! Just a little crazy This week we found a bunch of knew investigators and they are all catholic. I didn't know there were so many catholics in Vietnam but its fun to teach people who already know who God is. None of them want to join but they are all super interested in our message which is awesome! So a couple funny stories with them. 1) we were sitting doing some calls outside our apartment and this lady comes up to us and is all hey "so I hear you do charity work for your church and also have an english club right? Yeah well i am also christian so thats cool." We were a little shocked but turns out one of the old ladies that is always sitting outside our apartment told her all about us. Plus about being friends with al...

And it came to pass that we did return without food to our families

What a whirlwind of a week! I say that because it was a crazy week and we have a typhoon headed our way. But not to worry! Saigon is not going to get hit with anything more that a little rain cuz we are pretty far from the actual storm. This week we met with a guy we found on the street who is super religious but doesn't follow a religion. He was super pumped about the book of mormon and we invited him to meet with us. He had a lot to say that was so inline with what we believe and a couple of things not. We were planning on teaching the restoration but he kept bringing up happiness and trials so we taught the plan of salvation and showed him a picture of it and he just got real quiet and said "This is true." The spirit was so strong. But then he didn't want to meet cuz he will just ask his religious friends if he has any questions. I was so sad. We also met with Co Ngoc and seriously the change in her has been so big! Ever since we gave her a baptismal date she h...

MLC and Zone Conference

Image
Xin Chao everybody! Between Mission Leadership Conference (MLC) and Zone conference this week you better believe I'm just as excited and ready as can be! For MLC we went up to the new mission home in Hanoi and it is sooo beautiful! It reminded me of a good old normal house in Kaysville! So that was cool! The coolest part of MLC though was I came with 3 questions from the sisters in my zone and without me bringing up any of them all of my questions where answered during our discussion! Just another testimony that the Spirit really guides our discussions and this work! Then Zone Conference was awesome! For the zone training we basically picked apart part of the movie "how to train your dragon" and how the relationship between hiccup and toothless is exactly the same as our relationships as companions! That movie was seriously made for missionary companions. I have never thought so deeply or spiritually about a Dreamworks film before. Also this week Anh Phong became a...

Thanks everybody for all the birthday wishes! It will honestly be a birthday to remember! Here's what happened: Exchanges with the sisters. They were sooo good! Sometimes we learn the most from the people we are supposed to be teaching. I thought I was there to help Chi Ngoc but she was definitely there to help me. She is so full of the spirit and such an amazing teacher! One of the lessons we were at, we had the boyfriend of our investigator Chi Phung say the closing prayer and it was so cute a powerful I might have teared up haha! Also on Saturday we were able to meet with oen of the members and help her learn piano. It was one of the funnest service opportunities I have ever done. We would show her how to play and then slowly she would pick out the notes with the most amount of concentration I have ever seen. After she would just turn and say "How was it" and when we said "It was great" she just relaxed and just smiled and squealed with excitement and gr...

And it came to pass that we did travel for the space of many days

Let me just start by saying I'm going be the fastest biker when I get back! We biked soooo much on Saturday! We had a couple of appointments super far away from each other and got lost every time! but we got some good contacting done cuz we had to stop and ask for directions a lot! There was one person we were going to visit at the end of the day and she was a former investigator named Chi Phung, who really loved learning but just got too busy to come to the church for hour long lessons with past missionaries. So we were like hey we can come to your house! so we did! we basically biked all over our area to find her house but we finally made it and she and her fiancee both want to learn! after that we were so tired from biking all day and after 45 minutes of trying to find our home we were still so lost and had no idea were we were. So I just started praying and just saying how tired I was and lost and I didn't know what to do and as soon as I closed my prayer I looked over to m...

Chao buoi sang! (Good morning!) K word of the week is "yeu cau". It means "to request" but the literal translation is "love (yeu) toilet (toilet)" Anyway... holy let me tell you it has been a good week! We have seen so much of the hand of the Lord and been able to have some awesome adventures! from finding batteries for our dead carbon monoxide detector in the middle of the night, getting wrecked in basketball by some little kids last p-day, to just opening our mouths and meeting some amazing people! First off Em Thanh's parents finally agreed to let her get baptized!!! She has been trying for 8 months now and they are finally okay with it and even said they will come to the service! We also met with so many people this week! lots of phone contacts, street contacts, potential investigators etc. We have one girl named Chi Nga and she is the sister of a member who comes to church and is basically a member but her boyfriend does not like the church...

Hello Hello Hello! Okay here is your Vietnamese lesson for the week! What do you get when you mix a pomegranate (lựu) and a bullet (đạn)? A grenade (lựu đạn) I know I know--not funny but it's fun to compare the literal and actual translation of Vietnamese Anyway what a crazy week! Seriously though! It was transfer week and so much has happened! so here's a quick run down: Remember the old lady named Co Sang who we met on the street who is Buddhist but loves the Bible? She is an investigator now! And she loves when we read the Book of Mormon to her! She is such a fireball and was so fun to teach! Also remember Coffee guy who gave us juice and hot chocolate? He is also an investigator! We met with him again last week to teach the restoration and he had sooo many awesome questions! He already has a real christian background and is super well read in the Bible. At the end of the lesson we invited him to down load the Book of Mormon (cuz we are limited and don't give t...
